this last piece is interesting. have you considered sitting in a circle vs. in a 'traditional' group setting where there is a 'leader'? circles form a container allowing the energy of the group to flow into the circle and outward to all of the group members, and this encourages participation. different dynamic and a different energy.

yes! I'm really excited by exploring different ways of grouping ourselves. In that service where we fingerpainted, the chairs/cushions were arranged in small groups of about 8, which really facilitated conversation/engagement. I've really enjoyed services in one big circle, as well.

the more traditional worship setting i mentioned was at my job. it's a very traditional/hierarchical space and there's not much we could do about it, even if people wanted to change that.
